Andrea is a United Steelworker Electrician at U.S Steel Corporation and Labor Studies Instructor at Wayne State University. Her most treasured accomplishment is being the mother of 3 children. This unconditional love has made her interested in politics, human, civil, social, and economic issues which will directly affect their futures; they are her guiding force for her goal of educating our communities. Andrea's oldest daughter has Lupus, only son is autistic and youngest daughter announced she wants to be a doctor. So, affordable health care, quality education, economic opportunists etc. directly tied to our local, state, and federal politics are of high importance to her.
FUN FACT: Hunter is a die-hard Trekkie and assigned all of her key officers of our chapter a Star Trek Character's name. "Yours in Community, Kirk out!!"
Jim Pedersen | vice president (UAW)
James Pedersen is a retired autoworker from UAW Local 892 and the International Union, UAW Community Action Program Department. Pedersen has returned to work, at the University of Michigan-Dearborn Center for Labor and Community Studies, where he is a Continuing Education Specialist, coordinating labor studies and workers' conferences. He is also pursuing a Master of Arts Degree at Eastern Michigan University. Brother Pedersen lives in the Downriver community of Sumpter Township, where he is a Precinct Delegate and volunteers with his church and Masonic Lodge. Brother Pedersen is also the Recording Secretary of UAW Local 892 Retired Workers Chapter and on the Election Committee at Local 892.
FUN FACT: Pedersen is a real redhead, and proud of his Scots-Irish roots.
chettara hunter | recording secretary (LTA)
Chettara Hunter is a freelance photographer in Detroit, Wayne State University graduate, and sister of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated. Chettara developed an Interactive Anti-Hazing Workshop that is shown on various Michigan campuses; she also developed programs, raised funds and actively participates in the following causes: Lupus Awareness, Domestic Violence Prevention and Awareness, Suicide Prevention, and Breast Cancer Research. Hunter actively volunteers at Children’s Hospital where her goal after being diagnosed with Lupus at the age of 16 is to show the kids there, that no matter what ailment they have, as long as they fight and stay strong they can accomplish all of their dreams. Chettara is currently working on building a brand of gourmet dog treats and training her puppy to be a Therapy Dog.
FUN FACT: Chettara belongs to the Slytherin House and is currently the Seeker on her Quidditch team.
